CHANGES TO U-PASS – INTRODUCING UMO (you-moh)
BC Transit has launched Umo, a fresh payment system set to transform your bus pass experience.
Starting this May, you’ll need to use the new Umo mobile app, or a reloadable Umo card to show proof of payment on all buses in the Okanagan Regional Transit System. The UBC-O Student Card will no longer operate as your bus pass.
How to Activate Your U-PASS using the Umo App/Card
- The U-Pass is only available for currently enrolled students and is non-transferable
- Effective May 1st 2024, changes have been made to the BC Transit System, fully replacing the UBC-O Student ID Card with the UMO System
- Your U-Pass will continue to be automatically included in your Fall/Winter semester student fees, as part of your UBC tuition and other charges, just as it has been in the past
- The major change involves the usage and delivery of the U-Pass. Now, instead of swiping a card, you will scan your UMO U-Pass when boarding the bus
How to Redeem Your U-Pass Benefit Code
- Open the menu ☰ at the top of the UMO App
- Select Redeem Benefit
- Select Change Agency to ” KEL- Kelowna Regional Transit System”
- Enter the unique benefit code provided by the Students’ Union Okanagan (SUO) in your student email
- Success! Your U-Pass is now loaded into your account and you are ready to take on the Kelowna Regional Transit System
Reloadable UMO card:
- Pick up a UMO card for free from your students’ union, or a BC Transit Umo vendor
Locations on-campus:
Summer U-PASS, 30-day pass, bus tickets only: paper & supply co. bookstore ( UNC 103)
Fall/Winter U-PASS only: Student Union front desk (UNC 133)
Note: You can choose either the Umo App or a physical Umo card—you cannot use both.
You’ll need to activate your U-PASS every term with that term’s unique-to-you benefit code.
